God help us

It is very distressing to read the news, to see the presidential candidates, to look at the world around us.
Three stories that caught my eye tonight
The first is from California, where gender has been outlawed and students as young as 5 years old will be exposed to "mental molestation" to say the least. Parents, Non profit organizations (like churches) even privately owned religiously affiliated hospitals are being forced to:
1.) not offend or do anything that "could" be discriminatory against persons who are gay, transgendered, bisexual - and a whole list of other perversions.
2.) Make policies which include "fair" inclusive, non offensive, treatment of these people
3.) Face being criminally prosecuted, as well as civil liabilities if they offend anyone.

Also in the news,
In Maryland, you do not have a choice, religious or otherwise, on whether or not you will vaccinate your child. In fact the state has ordered that parents produce the children this Saturday in court to be vaccinated on the spot or face 10days imprisonment and 500.00 in fines, which will be recurring if the parents still refuse to vaccinate.

Lastly,
The average American
by Time Magazine

This is just sad

10% of Americans think Joan of Arc was Noah's husband.
50% could not name a single Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)
But 90% own a Bible? I'm beginning to wonder if people think it is an over sized heavenly ticket-stub, not something you might pick up and read.
I wonder what percentage of Americans have read the whole Bible?
Maybe it's time for that poll
Goodnight

They are trying to make is punnishable if churches do not hire gay, transgendered, bisexual no matter if its against everything you stand for!

Im not sure I agree with forcing parents to vaccinate their children next thing you know they will be giving the birth control shot to them without their concent.
However, I would like to hear some intelligent reasons why you should not get your child vaccinated of your own free will? Im not sure I understand that, there are people all over the world dying from preventable diseases where they dont have access to these vaccinations. I understand the whole freedom of choice (which is going away) thing but what makes you decide whether to vaccinate or not to? I understand children have died from them but more have died from not getting them.
I never put much thought into it, I always just did it, just like when I get into a vehicle I always buckle my children in without question. Can anyone set me straight?

I heard a similar poll, but the number on Joan of Arc was 30%. We lose so much when there is no Biblical knowledge, even in secular literature. I tried to take your poll and got an error, but I've read through every year except 2 since I was 18. Still learn something every time.

What are the odds of your child having Autism today? 1 in 150.
What was it in 1950? 2 in 10,000.
What has changed?
check out this site http://www.healing-arts.org/children/metal-metabolism.htm#mercury
for the full article, below is a little bit

"This is exactly what has been observed over the past 10 to 15 years. In the 1950's infants received 25 to 50 mcg mercury via vaccinations. The autism rate in the 1950's was about 2 in 10,000. The addition of another DPT vaccine in early infanthood became commonplace in the 1970's, and a small rise in the autism incidence rate was noted. In 1988, infants began receiving a Hib vaccination at 2,4, and 6 months, each vaccine containing 25 mcg of mercury. Then, in 1991, the hepatitis B vaccine was "mandated", with the first vaccination given within a few days of birth and 2 additional vaccines given during the 1st 6 months of life. Each hepatitis B vaccine contained 12.5 mcg Hg.
Also, over the past 10 to 15 years, the practice of giving RhoGAM injections to Rh-negative women has undergone a dramatic change. In the early 1980's an Rh-negative woman meeting the criteria for RhoGAM administration received the injection immediately after birth of the child. The current recommendations now include routine administration of RhoGAM (in women meeting the criteria) at 28 weeks gestation, after amniocentesis, and (with some obstetricians) if any spotting occurs during pregnancy. The amounts of mercury contained in RhoGAM injections vary with the manufacturer, but most contain about 25 mcg Hg. Thimerosal-free RhoGAM injections are now available.

The current autism incidence rate is now 1 in 150 children. Even those epidemiologists who contended that the rise is simply due to better diagnosis have conceded that the increase is indeed real and is quite alarming (IMFAR Conference, 2001, San Diego)."

Why should I have the choice to vaccinate my kids? because it is very possible that the vaccine I thought would protect them, will cause a lifetime of heartache.

Im not arguing against the right to choose, I was just wondering why you would or wouldnt.

We must look at the risks and the benefits. Like the seat belt that can save you 90% of the time but may cause problems 5 % of the time. You still buckle up. More people were killed in the Civil War than in WWI, WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam all added together. Only 1/3 were killed by bullets. 2/3’s died from Polio, Measles, Meningitis, and other diseases we vaccinate against.

For as many studies prove it is harmful, there are just as many or more that prove there is no link between vacciantions and autism.

I think we agree on the right to choose, the big picture is what had me concerned
Right now many Christians are in favor of "moral" legislation, I am in favor of outlawing abortion, shutting down strip clubs, and on and on.
But I foresee a time when such legislation will be used against us. How long will it be until the mention of God is outlawed from every place- even church - and churches will be called cults if they teach the Bible? (this sort of happens already) Why has someone tied schooling and vaccines together? How long until homeschoolling is outlawed and children are rounded up, taken from thier unfit parents who spank them, and loaded into the public schools and a foster home???
Maybe that is a little bit extreme, but when I hear the word "fundamentalist" I hear "bible believing", I am begining to think that our lost nation hears "national threat"
That is what the big picture really is, our nation ostrisizing and arresting those who have a different idea, because they think it is the wrong idea.

Hmmm...Once I had children on my own I began to read up on the vaccinations. yes, some kids have been harmed because of them, but those cases are rare. It is more likely that a child is harmed because they are not vaccinated, but the point is, some religions do not vaccinate because it is against their religion. They should have that right to choose. The pilgrims came to America so that they could have these types of freedoms and now, these freedoms are being taken away one by one. What do they want to do next, name our children for us? Tell us when and how to have them? Tell us what jobs we each can have? What we can wear? When will this end? *sigh*

Amanda, I also wanted to get on here to thank you for the comments that you have made on my blog. I am going through such a rough time right now and your comments have helped. I have been seriously considering getting back into church. I just need to find one I am comfortable with. I never stopped believing, don't ever think that. I just had a bad/hurtful experience at my old home church that pushed me away. Please pray for me and my family. And again, thanks!
