Harvest

Fall is here, the season of harvest is upon us.  This year has been quite the challenge.  With no time to put in a garden, or even go to the Amish auction, no time for canning, what is a good country homeschooling mom to do?

I have no idea, but we did decide to go roller skating yesterday.

Two hours of fast paced fun for the kids, meeting new moms, and chatting with friends about what they are canning, how their gardens are still producing.

There were only a few songs left and I was sitting with Drason watching the kids smile and laugh with their friends and I saw the fruit of the planting I have been doing.

I saw two friends skating hand in hand so they wouldn't fall and singing silly along with Toby Mac songs.

I saw older boys racing in a circle, a high speed game of chase, grinning from ear to ear.

I saw the older sister helping the younger sister to keep her balance.

I saw my three boys, enjoying time with their best buds, and just enjoying the moment.

The sweetness of the moment overwhelms and awes, and I hear Him whisper, 'This is what you have been growing, this is your harvest.'   Hours planning, co-op meetings, more hours teaching, struggling, just barely keeping up with the day to day, the inability to plant a garden this year because of the mountain of other things that needed tending, these efforts were not in vain, this time was not wasted, it did not pass unnoticed.

Here is the harvest, it is more bountiful than you could have imagined, it is more meaningful than canned tomatoes, it is sweeter than the best home made jelly, and it is all for you.

Thank you Lord for the harvest, my cup overflows.
